TruDesign Ball Valves BSP
Tru Design Composite Ball Valves
Trudesign Ball Valves are the ideal substitution for brass, plastic, bronze or DZR ball valves. They can be used in all sorts of marine applications both below and above the waterline. Available in a range of BSP sizes ranging from ½ā BSP, ¾ā BSP, 1ā BSP, 1 ¼ā BSP, 1 ½ā BSP,2ā BSP.
Tru Design Ball Valves comply with ISO Standard 9093-2 and ABYC H-27 while being certified by Bureau Veritas and IMCI.
The body is manufactured in glass-reinforced nylon composite with high impact
and tensile strength. The end result is a composite ball valve that is UV
resistant, free from corrosion and electrolysis issues.
Ā
The ball
and sealing rings of the Trudesign Composite Ball Valves utilize a PTFE polymer
which ensures a smooth system operation.
Tru Design Composite Ball Valves Features
- Manufactured from glass-reinforced nylon composite - High-strength and lightweight
- Immune to corrosion and electrolysis - long life with increased corrosion-free performance
- Resistant to chemicals and fuels - impervious to diesel, petrol and antifouling paints
- UV Resistant body - will not degrade or discolour from direct sunlight
- Large operating temperature range (-40° to +110°C)
- High-quality surface finish - unlike similar bronze fittings will not discolour
- Designed and manufactured in New Zealand
Tru Design Ball Valves FAQ
Q: Do Tru Design composite ball valves require
lubrication?
A: They require no lubrication. All you need to do is
to make sure that every few months the handle is turned, in order to maintain
the good functionality of the valve. The ball valves are manufactured with
Teflon impregnated ball running on Teflon rings which require no lubrication.
Studies have shown that even after a ball valve was not used for over 12 months
they still function fine.
Q: Can you remove the handle from a Tru Design Ball
Valve?
A: In case you need to install the ball valve in confined
spaces the handle can be removed for ease of installation. Simply follow the
steps below:|
- Using a sharp blade or screwdriver remove the flat screw cover from the top of the handle (this is located next to the True Design Logo)
- With a Phillips head screwdriver remove the Stainless screw and pull the handle away from the valve body
- After installation ensure that the handle is put back on and attach the stainless steel screw then cover with the screw cover
Q: Which sealant should I use on TruDesign
threads?
A: There is a wide range of sealants you can use but we
suggest our most popular marine sealants such as Sikaflex 291i and CT1. You can
also use PTFE Thread tape.
Q: Are TruDesign Ball Valves approved / compliant with international
standards?
A: Yes for ¾ā and above TruDesign Ball Valves assembled
with TrueDesign Skin Fittings are compliant to ISO 9093-2 and certified by
International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) and Bureau Veritas.
Q: Can you fit TruDesign Ball Valves to bronze and stainless steel
skin fittings?
A: Yes these composite ball valves can be fitted to
an existing bronze or stainless steel skin fitting however prior to being
screwed together we suggest checking that the bronze is not pitted or corroded
from electrolysis and is in good mechanical condition.
